Bio
Musician and Producer Kieran Kelly was born on a sunny day in the French Quarter of New Orleans and raised by his musician father, Kevin, in Flint, Michigan, where the sky is gray and GM is no longer building cars.
Kevin, who had regular jam sessions at home, inviting neighbors to come in and play with him and his friends, was missing a drummer, so at the age of 6, Kieran filled the spot.
It was then that Kieran fell hopelessly in love with music. He had already met her, danced with her and spent time with her, but it wasn't until then, that he decided to give his life to her forever. Music made its way into Kieran’s heart even before he could speak. And when he could speak, speaking became Kieran’s second love.
Kieran owns The Buddy Project Studio in Astoria, Queens where in addition to playing drums and guitars he is a Producer and Engineer. Some of the albums created at The Buddy Project include Sufjan Steven’s “Illinoise”, Julia Stone’s “The Memory Machine”, Andrew Rose Gregory and The Gregory Brothers' "The color red and other songs about the power of love" "and Angus & Julia Stone’s “Down The Way”
Kieran' has earned Platinum records in Australia (Angus & Julia Stone’s “Down The Way”) and New Zealand (Midnight Youth's "The Brave Don't Run") and Gold Records in France (Angus & Julia Stone’s “Down The Way”) and the US (Better Than Ezra's "Friction Baby")
He has produced, mixed and engineered original recordings that have appeared on ABC, CBS, FX, MTV, Showtime, The Sundance Channel and NPR.
Kieran loves The Beatles, The Smiths, Chet Baker, Pontificating, Jimmy Carter, Nina Simone, Gustav Mahler, God, his wife, Mooning his Father in-Law, Sushi and Frozen Burritos, but if you knew him, you’d probably say that most of all he loves talking to people.
Kieran has lived in NYC most of his adult life where in addition to owning and operating The Buddy Project Recording Studio, he also co-runs Stunning Models on Display Records along with a high school friend.
In 2007, Kieran was invited to speak in front of Congress representing independent Labels in support of music web-casters regarding web radio royalties.
Today, Kieran still loves Music, God and his wife. God and his wife still love him. Music on the other hand continues to play hard to get.
Someday Kieran will also get around to releasing a followup to his debut record “11 Blues and Greens”.
